Modern Slavery Statement for Rubbish Clearance Ruislip
Rubbish Clearance Ruislip is committed to conducting its business in a responsible and ethical manner. We recognise that modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation are serious crimes and fundamental violations of human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take, and will continue to take, to prevent modern slavery within our own operations and throughout our supply chains.
Our zero-tolerance approach
We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This policy applies to every aspect of our business, including the direct employment of staff, the engagement of contractors, and the selection and management of suppliers. We expect all parties we work with to uphold the same high standards and to comply with all relevant legislation relating to labour, human rights, and worker protection.
All managers are responsible for promoting and enforcing this zero-tolerance approach, ensuring that any behaviour or practice inconsistent with our values is challenged and addressed without delay. Any breach of this policy by employees or contractors may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract.
Risk assessment and due diligence
We assess potential risks of modern slavery in our operations and supply chains by reviewing the nature of the services we provide, the geographic location of activities, and the categories of goods and services we procure. Although our core activities are based in the United Kingdom, where the overall risk is comparatively lower, we do not assume that the risk is absent.
Our due diligence processes include checks on new suppliers, verification of identity for workers engaged on our sites, and enquiries into labour practices where there may be a higher risk of exploitation. We also review our use of temporary labour and subcontractors to ensure that recruitment practices are fair, transparent, and free from fees or other exploitative conditions.
Supplier standards and audits
We expect all suppliers and subcontractors to comply with our ethical standards on labour and human rights. As part of our onboarding process, suppliers are required to confirm that they adhere to all applicable laws relating to modern slavery and human trafficking and that they maintain appropriate policies and controls.
We conduct periodic supplier audits that may include site visits, document reviews, and interviews with management or workers, where appropriate. These audits are designed to verify compliance with labour standards, working hours, wage requirements, and the prohibition of forced or bonded labour. If a supplier fails to meet our requirements, we will seek corrective actions within a defined time frame. Where serious or repeated breaches occur, we will consider terminating the business relationship.
Training, awareness, and reporting channels
We aim to ensure that all employees, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, and contract management, understand the risks and indicators of modern slavery. Training and guidance are provided to help staff recognise signs of exploitation and respond appropriately.
We encourage a culture where concerns can be raised without fear of retaliation. Employees, contractors, and suppliers are encouraged to report any suspicions or evidence of modern slavery through internal reporting channels, which may include direct reporting to line managers, senior management, or a designated reporting contact. All reports will be taken seriously, treated confidentially wherever possible, and investigated promptly and impartially.
Continuous improvement and annual review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility that requires vigilance, awareness, and continuous improvement. Each year, we will review this Modern Slavery Statement and the effectiveness of our related policies, procedures, and controls. This review will consider any incidents reported, feedback from employees and suppliers, outcomes from audits, and any changes in relevant legislation or guidance.
Following each annual review, we will update our practices as needed to strengthen our approach and enhance protection for workers within our own operations and those of our supply chain partners. This statement has been approved by the management of Rubbish Clearance Ruislip and will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis.
